Canon HQ Brampton-bound
Canon Canada won't join the herd of companies forsaking suburbia. Instead, the global digital imaging giant, which had outgrown its 30-year-old Dixie Road HQ near Pearson Airport, has purchased 18 acres at Steeles and Mississauga Road in Brampton, where it will have a LEED-certified, 190k SF office building constructed. Canon has grown so much that it plans to keep the old 150k SF building (pictured) for use as a warehouse and distribution centre. Spokesman Wayne Doyle reminds us isn't entirely suburban: "We moved our sales and business solutions staff down to Bloor Street a few years back, and we've done the same thing in other big cities."
