City Abuzz With Casino Talk
Toronto city planner Joe Pennachetti released the long-awaited casino report yesterday, based on months of public consultation and analysis. Putting the casino on the CNE grounds or in the downtown core was one of the recommendations. There are over 40 conditions that would need to be met if council approves it. Pennachettis report also called for an even split of gaming revenue--meaning between $111M and $149M going to Toronto city coffers. The province has already said there will be no special deals for Toronto when it comes to revenue splits, so stay tuned for its reaction on that front. (Also, if you wanna take bets on whether it will happen, we're lookin' for a little action.)
