Ivanhoé Bets On Oshawa
For the second time in a week, Ivanho Cambridge has announced a major mall expansion, this time a $230M investment in Oshawa Centre. (Does this make them the most beloved CRE company in the coveted 13 to 17-year-old demographic?)
Oshawa's been turning away prospective tenants, VP retail development David Baffa told us yesterday. Unlike the $87M Vaughan Mills announcement, David can't announce any of the 60 or so expected new retail tenants. When work is done in 2016, 185k SF will have been redeveloped and 75k SF added, bringing the total to 1.25M SF, including the existing 61k SF of office. "Oshawa Centre's retail component will be a hair smaller than Vaughan." Ivanho is also building an outlet mall in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
