JLL President On A Mission
Thirty-five years ago, Brett Miller first saw Toronto as a UCC student. Now, back as president of JLL Canada after decades in Montreal, Paris, and London, he can't believe how fast Hogtown matured and became a leader.Brett came over from CBRE last May after getting HQ assurances Canada would be a priority (Brazil is JLL's other growth target). Brett's on a mission to eradicate internal competition among brokers, creating instead, "collaborative teams of sectoral geographic specialists." (This shifts arguments away from each other and over to the need for bigger business cards to fit the title.) JLL added 94 positions in 2012 and plans to maintain the hiring pace through 2014. The right scale for Canadian operations will be half the size of CB or Colliers, Brett says.
