Lead Architect Sees 1 Yonge as Potential Legacy Project

DAVIDPONTARINI

For Hariri Pontarini principal David Pontarini (left), the proposed 1 Yonge St. project by Pinnacle International would represent a pivotal gateway to the eastern waterfront area. Davidis fronting the project with Pinnacle as it begins to wind itself through the approval process with the city. ("Wind" being the kindest word we could find.) The project would feature six new towers, plus the existing Toronto Star tower, a 17-metre promenade, residential units sitting on a large retail commercial podium, and an extension of the underground PATH system link north of the Gardiner to the 1 Yonge St project. The whole south core is developing nicely west of Yonge, David says. The Corus and George Brown buildings are isolated off to the east of the Redpath refinery. This would fill the gap between those developments along the waters edge and what is happening with the downtown core.
