Rye High Buys Two More
We keep hearing about condo developers buying up all the downtown building sites, but don't overlook rapidly growing Ryerson University. Last week it paid the Ontario Ministry of Infrastructure $32.1M for two sites on Dundas East. RealNet research guru Richard Vilnerlooked back a decade for us and found the school had completed 10 real estate acquisitions worth $100M since 2004. Key to the latest deal is 1.4 acres on the northwest corner of Jarvis and Dundas, which Ryerson's Michael Forbes expects will eventually house a new faculty of science. Highest profile among Ryerson's RE moves has been a stake alongside Loblaws in Maple Leaf Gardens and the under-construction Student Learning Centre on Yonge Street. The school is also working with MPI Group on new Jarvis Street residence.
