Update: Oxford's 100 Adelaide St. W
All 100 Adelaide St W wants to do is go away. But will theToronto Preservation Board approve?Due to concern about the stability of the Oxford building's faade in the event of construction, it has beenproposed that the three-storey building be dismantled, conserved off site, then restored to its original location--all necessary toprotect the original fabric of this part of the building. The Toronto Preservation Board meets Thursday to consider changes to the Heritage Easement Agreement. The city planning division approved this already, now it goes to the board for their recommendations for the revised conservation strategy.
Prior to the issuance of a demolition permit, the city wants a letter of credit for $15M from the developer, around $7.8M of which will be used to secure the conservation of the facades (the balance is held in the event that demolition occurs and the project does not proceed in a reasonable time; the funds are released after the first above-grade structural permit is issued).
