What Condo Gloom?
Just when you thought Toronto's high-rise residential boom was cooling, Andra Call tells us 10 York is now the fastest-selling tower in Tridel's 44 years building condos. (That either means the boom continues or we have six more weeks of winter.)
The 65-storey SouthCore project, a JV with Build Toronto that's beenon the market since November, was 89% pre-sold as of yesterday. "That's way ahead of schedule," Andra says. The news comes just days after a Star report about a resurgence of bidding wars. (Don't be frightened, they are bloodless... usually.) Tridel expects 10 York--which was viewed by many as market bellwether--to have its permits by April and shovels in the ground by year's end. While we rarely hear compliments about public entities, Andra tells us BT has been a great partner. "Very professional, detailed with numbers." In fact, Tridel has recently purchased a site from BT at Bloor and Islington.
