Canadian Pension Fund Trio Buys London City Airport
A consortium including Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (OTPP), OMERS and Alberta Investment Management Corp has reached a deal to acquire the company that owns and operates London City Airport, near Canary Wharf. The consortium, which includes Wren House Infrastructure Management, a unit of the Kuwait Investment Authority, said it’s committed to long-term ownership and enhancement of the airport, which saw passenger numbers grow to 4.3 million in 2015 from 2 million in 2005 (18% growth last year alone). OTPP owns Bristol Airport and stakes in airports in Sydney, Copenhagen and Brussels.
