4 Buildings BOMA Liked Best
Hundreds of real estate pros gathered this month at the Ritz-Carlton for the 17th annual BOMA Toronto awards gala. Here are four projects that most impressed judges.
1. Concorde Corporate Centre
Award: Outstanding Building of the Year, 100-250k SF
Owner: Artis Concorde Ltd
Manager: Crown Property Management Inc
Outstanding fact: The centre’s green roof is world class—it won the International Green Roof Award.
2. Mississauga Executive Centre 4
Award: Outstanding Building of the Year, 250-500k SF
Owners: Desjardins Financial Security Life Assurance Co; AIMCO Realty Investors LP; ONTARI Holdings Ltd
Manager: Colliers International
Outstanding fact: All four buildings at MEC are LEED-EB Gold certified, and Nos. 2 and 4 have undergone multimillion-dollar renos.
3. 6880 Financial Dr
Award: Outstanding Building of the Year, 500k-1M SF
Owner: bcIMC Realty Corp
Manager: Bentall Kennedy (Canada)
Outstanding fact: This building can co-generate its own hydroelectricity, handy in the event of power outages and/or peak pricing.
4. Commerce Court
Award: Outstanding Building of the Year, 1M SF+ (21 Melinda St, 30 Wellington St E and 199 Bay St)
Owner: bcIMC Realty Corp
Manager: GWL Realty Advisors Inc
Outstanding fact: Commerce Court’s North Tower was once the tallest building in the British Empire. The complex’s other three modern buildings were designed by I.M. Pei.
