Cadillac Fairview Is Replacing The Bridge Connecting Eaton Centre To Saks
Cadillac Fairview has unveiled plans for a new pedestrian bridge spanning Queen Street that the company says will do a better job integrating CF Toronto Eaton Centre with Hudson’s Bay and the newly opened Saks Fifth Avenue flagships. Construction is slated to begin this month on the replacement bridge, which will be assembled adjacent to the shopping centre on James Street. Designed by WilkinsonEyre — the firm worked with original bridge designer Zeidler Partnership Architect — the structure will feature glass and etched bronze cladding panels. The bridge is used by 2 million people annually. Eaton Centre marks its 40th anniversary this year.
