Roots Cabin Offers 'Enhanced' Shopping Experience
Roots will unveil a retooled 5,100 SF concept outlet Thursday that it describes as its first “Enhanced Experience Store.”
Roots Cabin, at the Yorkdale Shopping Centre, will evoke the comforts of a modern cabin with repurposed wood and cedar designs throughout.
The store is double the size of previous Roots outlets, and will feature a performance lounge, in-store pickup for online orders, Roots memorabilia and a large skylight. It will have an interactive Customization Workshop where shoppers can design their own jackets and leather goods.
“Our uniquely Canadian style continues to resonate with consumers around the globe,” Roots President and CEO Jim Gabel said in a news release.
“Physical stores will always be a critical asset for Roots because they provide a personal and social shopping experience. The longstanding success of our current Yorkdale location motivated the move to the enhanced experience format.”
The store’s centerpiece is the Customization Workshop, described by Roots as an interactive, collaborative creative space that is digitally connected to Toronto’s Roots Leather Factory. Customers will be able to create custom designs on-screen with the aid of Root experts.
Established in 1973, Roots operates 220 stores in four countries.
