Masonite to Stay in B.C.
Masonite International looked into other spots in Canada and the US, but just couldn't leave, consolidating three existing BC facilities into a new, 264K SF home in Langley in January 2015. (Whatever tactic worked, do the opposite on your adult kids that refuse to leave the spare bedroom.)
Bisnow reached out to Masonite senior director of operations Zdravko Siklic for the details. He tells us Masonite manufacturers doors for the home, with operations around the world and over 6,000 employees. There are 300 employees in BC.
The new building--owned by Beedie Group--is under construction. Masonite has four facilities in BC. The two Langley facilities and the one in Surrey will all be moved under one roof. (First one there gets to claim the top bunk.) They had also looked at Alberta and Washington State. "The primary reason was employee retention and employee talent," he says. "Streamlining logistics and lowering the cost to produce was another. We also get what we consider a fair market rate for the property in a centralized location." Snapped is one of Masonite's Langley locations.
