Designer Outlet Mall Opening Causes Commotion
A flood of shoppers heading to last week’s grand opening of McArthurGlen Designer Outlets—Metro Vancouver's first designer outlet mall—created traffic congestion bad enough to cause flight delays at nearby YVR, CTV News reported. Richmond RCMP had to be called in to help direct traffic along Grant McConachie Way, the road leading to the 240k SF shopping centre—and the airport. Vancouver Airport Authority, a partner in the mall, said that despite the hiccups it’s monitoring traffic patterns and is planning to accommodate the growth of the mall, which is set to expand by 135k SF in 2017.
