Will Yale Hotel Live on as a Blues Venue Under New Owners?
The Yale Hotel, Vancouver's longtime go-to destination for rhythm and blues (at 1300 Granville St), has been sold to MRG Ventures, a local company that also operates the Vogue Theatre and Biltmore Cabaret, according to the Georgia Straight. The new owners of the building—built in 1889 as the Colonial Hotel, a CPR bunkhouse, and shut down for renovations several years ago—have not publicly indicated whether it will live on as a blues spot, but CBRE’s Mario Negris, who worked on the deal, told the publication that he believes it will remain an entertainment venue.
