Boy Scouts Considering Lifting Gay Ban
The Boy Scouts of America is considering dropping its ban on gay scouts, according to a statement posted yesterday. The organization said local chapters would be able to decide for themselves if they wanted to allow gay members and would no longer have to abide by a national policy that's been in place since the Boy Scouts founding. The organization reaffirmed as recently as last summer that it stood by its ban. The organization didn't say when a decision would be made.
