National Council for Adoption Gala
Angie Watson and her husband, Masters champion Bubba Watson, stole the show at last week’s gala to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the National Council for Adoption at the Mayflower. (Bubba joined her by video from China, where he was in a golf tournament.) The Watsons have been national spokespeople for the organization. Angie, who was the gala honorary chair, spoke about the joy adoption has brought to her family. In addition to celebrating adoption, there was focus on the 100,000 children waiting to find forever homes from foster care.
The council gave awards to adoption advocates: Heidi Cox (Gladney Center for Adoption), Kate Schnittman (Charles and Mary Crossed Foundation), Rita Soronen (Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption), Paige Noland Rense (former editor-in-chief, Architectural Digest), Chuck Johnson (National Council For Adoption CEO) and Mendell Thompson (America’s Christian Credit Union). Also in the crowd were Sen. Roy Blunt and Kraft's Abby Blunt, Cardinal Bank president Kevin Reynolds and Stacey Reynolds, NCFA chairman Kevin Wrege and gala chairwoman Elizabeth Wrege, and RNC's Sean Spicer and National Beer Wholesaler's Rebecca Spicer.
