Pharma Calls Out One of its Own

It’s not often that an association publicly disagrees with someone in the industry it represents. But the uproar over Turing Pharmaceuticals CEO Martin Shkreli jacking up the price of a life-saving drug 4,000% prompted this tweet from the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America. The organization has been known to protect its own during a controversy, but in this case, the CEO’s unapologetic public comments hit a nerve. The tweet inspired even more backlash from people questioning why drugs are so expensive. [WaPo]
