Loss for the District
Friday's announcement that DC CFO Nat Gandhi will step down June 1 will leave a big hole at City Hall, according to First Potomac's Ernie Jarvis (that's Nat and Ernie, to the right). Ernie says that Nat's replacement will have to navigate the unique relationship that the District has with Congress, as well as understanding the impact the federal budget has on GSA leasing. Ernie says that most states would love to have the sort of success Nat generated for the District, highlighted by the $417M budget surplus announced last week. (At least there's one bonus to his leaving: references to the Washington Nats won't be as confusing.)
