Almost a Quarter of Arlington's Offices are Vacant
Arlington's office vacancy is growing and growing. In Q1, the county reported 21.7% of all office space in the county was unoccupied, including 30.4% in Rosslyn (up from 26.5% in 2014) and 25.2% in Crystal City. Those numbers are some of the highest in Arlington's history, InsideNova reports. County officials have repeatedly said that the soaring vacancy rate is mostly due to the BRAC closures over the past half-decade. Not helping matters is 1812 N Moore St, the 35-story, 580k SF office tower in Rosslyn that has been completely empty since in opened in October 2013. Arlington's latest budget included millions of dollars for economic development, targeted at filling the empty offices countywide. [IN]
