The Donohoe Cos. has shaken up its leadership in a move that will land a non-Donohoe at the helm of the 134-year-old family company.

The Bethesda-based firm named Chris Bruch as its new CEO and president. Bruch began working for the company 30 years ago as a project engineer with Donohoe Construction and most recently served as chief operating officer.

With the promotion, former CEO Bob Donohoe Sr. will become chairman of the company's board of directors. Donohoe Sr. has been with the company for 40 years and served as CEO since 2014, following the death of James Donohoe.

James Donohoe had served since 1988 when he took over for Robert Stinson, the only other non-Donohoe to lead the company, according to the Washington Business Journal.

The company also promoted Robert B. Donohoe Jr. to senior vice president and chief investment officer. It also promoted Eric Maggio to senior vice president and chief financial officer, taking over for Gerard Goeke, who has retired. Additionally, the company hired Tracy Caswell as vice president and treasurer.

"Earlier this decade, Donohoe began its transition from the fourth to the fifth generation of leadership over the company's 134-year history," Bob Donohoe Sr. said in a release. "As Donohoe evolves, this new generation of leaders is charged to continue to carry out our values and integrity and vision."
