IDI Group announced yesterday it was chosen by the Diocese of Arlington as the master developer for the redevelopment of the Paul VI school site in Fairfax. The private school on Fairfax Boulevard is moving to Loudoun County in 2019. VP Enrico Cecchi tells us the Arlington-based company will start working on a master plan next month with input from the community and city officials. Enrico says IDI envisions multiple uses on the 18.5 acres, including residential, retail, public open space, pedestrian connectivity and affordable housing. The site will go through an entitlement process, which will take at least a year, and then a site plan process, which will take another year.

IDI Group has done some notable projects in the DC region, including The Rotonda in McLean, Ballston Metro Center and Rosslyn Metro Center in Arlington, and Leisure World senior communities in Maryland and Virginia. The company has had its eye on Fairfax because of successful surrounding projects and it’s currently developing an 80-unit condo project on Pickett in Fairfax. Enrico says the Paul VI site is in the heart of Fairfax, which is “ripe for high-quality development.” Once the school moves, there will be a change of ownership
