Gannett Finds Buyer for Tysons HQ
Gannett has agreed to sell its global HQ, the two-tower complex in Tysons it built in 2001 for $300M. The buyer is London-based Tamares Group, which is paying about $270M, or $343/SF, for the 787k SF property at 7950 Jones Branch Dr. Gannett looked to sell the building after splitting the company in two—Gannett, the print-media publisher, and Tegna, a new broadcasting company, the Washington Business Journal reports. Gannett had been trying to lease some empty space in its property, but had been unsuccessful. The publisher, which owns USA Today, will still lease a portion of the glass buildings, but the rest Tamares may reposition as it tries to fill up. [WBJ]
