Greenhill Cos Looks to Lease 22-Acre Alexandria Redevelopment Site
After more than 27 years of assembling properties, Greenhill Cos is looking for a master lease lessee for its 22-acre redevelopment site in the west end of Alexandria. The property has frontage on Van Dorn Street, South Pickett Street and Edsall Road, and is near Millcreek's new Landmark Gateway Apartments, JBG's Cameron Park and the Van Dorn Metro Station, making it a hot commodity. "We've had a lot of interest and have been exploring our options," principal Lenny Greenberg told Bisnow. "So we decided to lease instead of sell." Greenberg says the plans are evolving, but there's an opportunity for roughly 2.5M SF on this "superblock." Currently the site is about 90% leased, with tenants like the Mayflower Warehouse, which has a lot of temporary month-to-month leases, auto companies and Burger Delight. The site's oldest property is a shopping center constructed in 1987. Greenhill's diverse portfolio includes office, retail, warehouse and multifamily properties throughout the Washington metro area.
