Marriott's Impending Move Could Help Its Current Neighborhood
A developer building townhouses across the street from Marriott International's HQ is bullish on the area when Marriott moves, likely around the start of next decade. EYA broke ground last month on a 168-unit townhouse development on Fernwood Road in the Rock Spring neighborhood in Bethesda, and some would expect the neighborhood to be panicking about the hotel giant's move, the Washington Business Journal reports. Not so, according to EYA VP of land acquisition McLean Quinn, who sees the move as having potential to redevelop Marriott's suburban office into a mixed-use development. "It's not going to be a ghost town," he says. If ghosts did infiltrate Bethesda, do you think all the speed cameras would be able to snap a picture? [WBJ]
