Prominent Researcher Leaves CBRE To Lead East Region For JLL
A prominent mid-Atlantic researcher is moving from one major brokerage to another.
Wei Xie is the new East region research lead for JLL, the firm announced Tuesday. Xie joins JLL from CBRE, where she most recently served as the Mid-Atlantic director of research.
In her new role, Xie will report directly to Julia Georgules, head of Americas research at JLL and based in the firm's Northern Virginia office in Tysons, according to a press release. Xie is tasked with overseeing research in a region that stretches from Chicago to Miami, per JLL. The firm didn't immediately respond to an inquiry about whether her purview includes any Northeast cities like New York and Boston.
"JLL is a top tier, well-respected market leader and I could not be more proud to join the firm at this pivotal time of change and evolution in commercial real estate," Xie said in a statement.
A 16-year research veteran, Xie began her career at CoStar Group, where she worked from January 2006 to September 2013, according to her LinkedIn profile. She was at CBRE from September 2013 until earlier this month.
Xie's education includes a master's degree from the University of Maryland - Baltimore County and studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Stuttgart and Renmin University of China.
"The addition of Wei to JLL’s Research organization is tremendous," Chris Molivadas, JLL Mid-Atlantic market director, said in a statement. "Her experience and leadership will be instrumental in shaping the future of our data and forecasting and we are very excited to have her on board."
