Jon Hipp may look relaxed with his family last month near their weekend home at Deep Creek Lake, but his frenetic triple net lease activity in 2014 set Metro area net lease records — see below. Even on the domestic front, things are literally jumping: Jon’s 12-year-old daughter is active in gymnastics and dance, and his 10-year-old son is tearing it up in basketball and football. Not to mention that the whole family, as seen in this picture, has taken up tubing.
As to the records: Jon's Calkain Cos (23 brokers, 9 offices) sold a CVS drug store on Leesburg Pike (pictured) for $24.7M, equating to $1,915 a foot, and a Starbucks building at Dupont Circle for $1,672 a foot. But that’s nothing — in the 10 years since he and David Sobelman founded Calkain, it’s racked up $10B in net lease sales.
