The $100M Lawsuit Against Howard University Isn't Going Away
The $100M lawsuit against Howard University over the Howard Town Center property across the street from the university's hospital got new life yesterday, thanks to a US appeals court. The suit, which developer Cohen Siegel Investors levied as Howard Town Center Developer LLC, claims the school improperly terminated the developer's 99-year ground lease to develop a 445-unit mixed-use building, with 74k of ground-floor retail, a grocery store and 320 underground parking spots, the Washington Business Journal reports. The suit revolves around a $1.475M rent payment, which the school claims Cohen Siegel paid late, and paid into an escrow account HU couldn't access. [WBJ]
