Vornado Plans 1,100 New Units in Pentagon City

Placeholder

One of the biggest residential developments in Pentagon City could be getting much, much bigger. Vornado is planning to add 1,100 units in four buildings to the three-building, 1,670-unit RiverHouse complex it owns on 37 acres. Three of the seven-story buildings would have 934 market rate apartments and the fourth would be a 150-affordable-unit building, ARLnow reports. The development adds to Vornado's growing development presence in Pentagon City, including the 10-acre, mixed-use PenPlace project and the 700-unit Whole Foods-anchored The Bartlett. That development drew the ire of residents of the nearby Arlington Ridge neighborhood, who weren't fans of Vornado's plans for the future of RiverHouse's surface parking lots. If approved and built, the new buildings would include 30k SF of ground-floor retail. [ARL]
