Countdown to Ed & Meds

It's the retail-ization of healthcare services. That means patients seeing medical pros in CVS. (The weirdest place you used to get shots was in the tush. CVS is now a close second.) This is among the major changes with real estate impact we'll be addressing at Bisnow’s Eds & Meds Summit Monday morning at the Renaissance Downtown. If we were smarter, we would have arranged to offer flu shots.

Foulger-Pratt’s Michael Abrams, who’ll speak at Monday’s event and was snapped just now at CVS, says MOBs also are becoming more consumer-friendly. Consider that his company’s Park Potomac (85k SF to break ground Q4 '15) is hosting a food and wine tasting festival tomorrow from 1 to 5pm, and Foulger-Pratt's also breaking ground in January on a 65k SF MOB in the 800k SF Brandywine Crossing shopping center. That means lots of opportunity for the real estate world, but you’ve got to know the healthcare system—from regulations to power players. Michael also tells us that many existing MOBs (including Foulger-Pratt’s) are in the suburbs, but just like any retail, the properties will follow people, and people are going to cities.
