MedStar Earns Approval For Georgetown University Hospital
MedStar's plan for a 477k SF surgical pavilion just east of the main Georgetown University Hospital (above) just took a big step forward.
The $567M project received approval from the Old Georgetown Board and multiple community organizations, the Washington Business Journal reports.
MedStar tweaked the building's design a bit before gaining approval, including more greenspace and walkability and changing the underground parking garage entrance from two ramps to one ramp. The plan will still include the proposed helipad, new private patient rooms, operating rooms and an emergency department.
The project still must go through another series of required city approvals before breaking ground. Working with HKS Architects and Shalom Baranes Associates, MedStar plans to begin construction by the end of this year and deliver the building by 2020. [WBJ]
