Fight Night With War Horse, Friedman Capital
War Horse founder Scott Plank (left) was in DC last week for Fight Night, supporting his brother, Kevin Plank, whose Under Armour sponsored the major charity event. Scott is joined in this selfie by Friedman Capital's Jill Phaneuf, Brian Friedman and Epic Consulting's Theo Bell.
Scott came back to the home on the East Coast from Dallas, where War Horse's 4k SF food hall in San Francisco, The Hall, was a finalist in the Urban Land Institute's annual Global Awards for Excellence. If Scott can do that with a 4k SF temporary space, imagine what he can do in College Park, where he's planning a co-working space and entertainment venue to cater to the students and faculty of his alma mater.
Theo is representing Virgin Hotels as it looks (still) for spots to open its first DC location. The news of Richard Branson's DC search broke back in 2013, but patience is a virtue for Virgin.
Brian and Jill are getting set to open The Line hotel in Adams Morgan, which figures to be one of the buzzier lodgings around town because of its All-Star restaurant lineup: a new spot from Maketto chef Erik Bruner-Yang and the first DC entree from Spike Gjerde, who draws rave reviews for Parts & Labor and Woodberry Kitchen in Baltimore.
