Northwood Investors Buys D.C.'s The Darcy Hotel
A New York investment firm has acquired The Darcy hotel in Downtown D.C. and plans to operate it with an independent brand.
Northwood Investors bought the hotel at 1515 Rhode Island Ave. NW from KHP Capital Partners in a deal posted Monday to the D.C. Recorder of Deeds.
The recorded price was roughly $82M, though final sale prices for D.C. hotels are often higher than the number recorded on deeds sales. The hotel had D.C.'s only hotel in Hilton's Curio Collection, but Northwood plans to proceed with The Darcy as an independent brand, the Washington Business Journal reports.
The 226-room hotel sits next to Scott Circle at the intersection of Rhode Island Avenue and 16th Street NW. It previously operated as a DoubleTree by Hilton until KHP acquired it in May 2016 and relaunched it as The Darcy. The hotel features Michelin-starred restaurant Siren from chef Robert Wiedmaier and Lil'B Coffee Bar & Eatery from chef David Guas.
The property is the third hotel in D.C.'s core to trade in as many months. Foxhall Partners last week sold the Kimpton Carlyle Dupont Circle to Global Holdings. Capstone Development in October sold the Courtyard By Marriott Washington, D.C. Dupont Circle to Generator, which plans to relaunch it under its European-style hotel-hostel hybrid concept.
