Fast-growing moving company JK Moving Services is looking for a site on which to build a new corporate headquarters and has its eyes on a 424-acre plot near Dulles International Airport

JK Moving has put in an offer to buy the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority's "Western Lands" site, the Washington Business Journal reports

The parcel sits just west of the airport, fronting Route 606 where it intersects with Beaver Meadow Road and Carters School Road. MWAA retained CBRE in December to market the undeveloped site, along with two smaller parcels near the airport. The broker's marketing materials pitch the site as ideal for data centers and industrial warehouses.

The 37-year-old moving company has expanded rapidly in recent years, now employing over 1,000 people. It has been based at Sterling's Mercure Business Park, but in recent years it began looking to build a new campus.

In 2015, JK Moving bought a 42-acre site at the interchange of Route 28 and Route 606 for $9.7M. It then decided it needed something larger and sold the site Friday as it put in an offer for the MWAA site. It has also bid on another undisclosed Loudoun County property. After it acquires a new site, it plans to build an 80K SF office building, 1M SF of warehouse space and 15 acres of truck and trailer parking.
