5 Major DC Projects Scheduled To Deliver By Year-End

Some big projects have already delivered in DC this year, including the redeveloped Old Post Office Building hotel, but the year's final stretch will see several major developments completed that will have significant impacts on their neighborhoods. 

MGM National Harbor

MGM recently announced a Dec. 8 grand opening for its $1.3B National Harbor resort and casino. The resort's 3,000-seat theater has already booked Bruno Mars, Jim Gaffigan and Kings of Leon to perform in its first month. The 1M SF resort will also have a 125k SF casino floor, a 308-room hotel, 50k SF of meeting and event space, 18k SF of retail and a 5,000-space parking garage. 

Uline Arena

The flagship REI store in Uline Arena opens tomorrow and the rest of the project is expected to deliver within 45 days, Norman Jemal tells Bisnow. Douglas signed Regus' co-working concept Spaces to occupy 44k SF and also is moving its own HQ to occupy roughly 15k SF. The historic arena in NoMa saw The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan perform in its previous life. 

The Apollo

The site of the former Apollo Theater on the 600 block of H Street NE has been transformed into a 432-unit mixed-use building anchored by a Whole Foods. Pre-leasing has already begun and tenants are moving in next month. Across the street, Jair Lynch's 307-unit Anthology, with H Street's first Starbucks, delivered on Oct. 6

600 Massachusetts Ave NW

Oxford and Gould's East End trophy office building is set to deliver with roughly 90% of its 400k SF already leased. Law firm Venable will occupy 245k SF and communications firm Brunswick Group recently signed 22k SF. The JV is also working on 900 New York Ave NW, the 620k SF office building that will be the final piece of CityCenterDC

Element 28

Kettler has more than 2,000 units under construction or in lease-up and the next delivery in its pipeline is Element 28 in Bethesda. The 101-unit high-rise luxury building is expected to deliver within the next two months
