Ready for the Purple Line?
The Silver Line has already had an amazing impact in NoVa. And soon, in suburban Maryland, the Purple Line could have the same effect on development and transportation. The $2.2B project is among the hot topics we'll feature at Bisnow's Montgomery County Boom! event this Thursday.
Pamela Dunn is one of the Montgomery County Planning department's top project managers, and she'll be on hand Thursday to discuss the Purple Line. Where it stands: The county is acquiring the necessary right-of-way elements and hopes to begin construction next year on the 16-mile light-rail track (it won't look like other Metro rail—but it's faster than a streetcar) that'll stretch from downtown Bethesda to New Carrollton. It'll give Montgomery and Prince George's counties an east-west connection that hasn't existed before. Pam is also assisting in Montgomery's zoning rewrite, which we'll also hit on Thursday.
Not far from where Bethesda's Purple Line station will lie Hampden Row, a brand-new condo project under construction from Toll Brothers—and the firm's Stephen Alfandre (middle) will also be on hand Thursday. From The Lauren on Hampden Lane to The Darcy at the Lot 31 project to the Toll Brothers undertaking, there's a condo boom happening in downtown Bethesda. The Coming Boom in Montgomery County event kicks off with great networking at 7:30am at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel. Register today!
