This Morning at the Mayflower
At our DC Mixed-Use Revolution, St. Elizabeths East executive director Catherine Buell (with Redbrick Partners' Brendan Sorem) said the city is looking for a development partner for the 183-acre first phase of the project—and the hope is to team with a firm that truly gets office, retail, residential, and tech. And whoever ends up winning the bid will have a slew of assets already onsite, Catherine says, like the Congress Heights Metro right next door, the Gateway Pavilion, and Microsoft's upcoming innovation center.
A public pre-response meeting will be held at St. E's this Friday at noon, she says. Catherine adds Microsoft is looking for an operating partner for its innovation center, which will most likely be filled by one (or more) of the local universities. Every academic institution in the region (plus NIH) has expressed interest in taking part in St. E's, she says. Stay tuned tomorrow for more coverage of this morning's event.
