Your Earth Day Message
JLL's Mid-Atlantic construction team (led by Jim Murty, left) is getting in the Earth Day spirit by recycling nearly 87% of all building material waste, according to a report the firm issued yesterday. And in some cases, it can net big savings. JLL tells us that on one recent renovation, the hardware on all of the particular building's doors (there were over 100) were the same as the ones being specified by the architect for the new project. JLL pulled the old hardware and rekeyed every new door at a cost of $20 a pop, instead of $120 per door. The firm says it also recycles ceiling tiles when necessary to save money and reduce waste.
