CityInterests, Rooney Propose New Robinson Terminal North Development Plan
The site of an old, brick industrial building on the Old Town Alexandria waterfront, formerly home to a Washington Post warehouse, could soon see new life.
CityInterests and Rooney Properties have filed a permit to build 39 residential units atop 15K SF of retail at the 500 North Union St. site, the Washington Business Journal reports.
The team had previously planned to build a 132-room hotel, 66 multifamily units and retail in a development that included the neighboring warehouse site at 501 North Union St. That proposal was approved in October 2015, but then the development team put the project on hold in August 2016.
The building sits just three blocks from the bus garage site at 600 North Royal St. that WMATA is actively seeking companies to buy and develop. Also on the Old Town waterfront, EYA is moving forward with its Robinson Landing development that will include 70 condos, 26 townhouses, retail and public space.
