Grosvenor Breaks Ground on Silver Spring Project
Yesterday afternoon, Grosvenor Americas turned some dirt on a 243-unit mixed-use building in Silver Spring, the first major multifamily start since summer ended in the region. There to unveil the property was Montgomery County council member Nancy Floreen, Grosvenor SVP Don Capobres, county executive Ike Leggett, and First Baptist Church of Silver Spring pastor Duncan McIntosh. The project is at 8455 Fenton St, where First Baptist recently stood. Grosvenor is building a new church and daycare on an adjacent plot for Duncan and his congregation.
The building, across the street from the new Silver Spring library, will have 16k SF of ground-floor retail. The project, called Central, is expected to deliver in fall 2017 fully amenitized: rooftop pool and lounge, fitness center, pet wash facility and a bike workshop. 31 of the apartments will be designated affordable.
