New $102M STEM Building Unveiled At Bowie State University
A new, $102M building completed at Bowie State University's campus in Prince George's County will help the university with its goal of increasing the representation of minorities in science, technology, mathematics and education fields.
Perkins+Will designed the 149K SF Center for Natural Sciences, Mathematics & Nursing, which was unveiled at a dedication ceremony Friday morning.
The building features a cylindrical, three-story multi-purpose space, 23 research and instructional labs, five classrooms, three nursing simulation suites and a greenhouse.
Bowie State's new facility is the second major higher education building to open in Prince George's County in the last month. On May 12, the University of Maryland-College Park unveiled a new, 187K SF building in the center of its campus. The Edward St. John Learning and Teaching Center was built with a $10M gift from St. Johns Properties founder Edward St. John.
