Berkadia Hires D.C. Investment Sales Leaders From JLL
Berkadia is bolstering its D.C. investment sales practice with two top brokers from a competing firm.
The firm hired Brian Crivella and Walter Coker, who previously worked with JLL, to serve as senior managing directors in its D.C. office, it announced Thursday.
Crivella and Coker were with HFF until JLL acquired the firm in 2019. Both brokers previously worked at Cushman & Wakefield before joining HFF in 2011, according to their LinkedIn pages. They have spent the past two years as co-heads of JLL's Mid-Atlantic Investment Advisory & Equity Placement team.
The two have specialized in multifamily capital markets, closing roughly 200 sale and recapitalization deals totaling over $15B in value and over 40,000 units over the course of their careers, according to Berkadia. They have closed several sales during the coronavirus pandemic, including a $19M Courthouse development site, a $49M Shaw apartment building and an $82M Woodbridge community.
The hires continue Berkadia's expansion of its multifamily investment sales practice, including the January acquisition of apartment brokerage practice Moran & Co. Crivella and Coker will report to Berkadia co-Head of Investment Sales Keith Misner and work closely with the firm's D.C.-area mortgage banking team.
“Few people are as experienced in the Mid-Atlantic region as Walter and Brian, and we’re thrilled to add them as leaders to our already powerhouse team in our D.C. Metro office," Misner said in a release. "As we look ahead to what we know will be an incredibly active end of the year, and what we expect to be an equally active start of 2022, we’re confident that we’re bringing the best talent and opportunities to the table to enable our clients to achieve their goals.”
