Community Three Plans 42-Unit Condo Development On Capitol Hill
Community Three Development has plans for a new condo development on Capitol Hill.
The developer shared plans with the community and the ANC this week, and received feedback that will impact the plans for the development. As it stands, Community Three has plans for a matter-of-right, four-story project, Urban Turf reports.
The development would rise at 300 8th St NE, which is home to a one-story building that would be demolished. Plans call for 42 condo units, including a mix of one- and two-bedroom units, and an underground parking garage. Torti Gallas has been tasked with design for the project, which will offer a ground-floor fenced courtyard in the rear of the building.
Residents have voiced concerns about the building's appearance and current iteration, and hope to find some common ground with the developer on the project’s final form. The ANC committee has unanimously voted to recommend the full ANC hold off on supporting the project due to similar concerns, and would like to see more details and additional project renderings.
The Community Three project site is not too far away from another proposed condo development on Capitol Hill. Perseus Realty and Javelin19 have plans in the works for a project known as 1101 Penn, which would bring up to 40 condo units to Pennsylvania Ave SE, and keep beloved Frager's Hardware in place. [UT]
