Ditto And Zusin Planning Family-Sized Units Near Union Market
In response to the demand for more family housing in the District, plans for a new residential project near Union Market call for larger, family-sized units.
Ditto Residential and Zusin Development have plans for a 56-unit residential building at 301 Florida Ave NE. As opposed to the typical mix of one- and two-bedroom units, the partners plan to develop the project with a mix of three- and four bedroom units, plus a few studio apartments, according to UrbanTurf.
The site at 301 Florida Ave NE is a triangular plot that currently houses a Penske truck depot and a liquor store. Plans for the individual units call for a master bedroom in each to be surrounded by smaller bedrooms. Dep Designs has been tasked with design for the project, which will go before zoning this month.
The Union Market area has seen quite the boom in interest with several projects either planned or in the works, including the massive Market Terminal development from Kettler, and a 1.1M SF mixed-use project along 6th Street NE from JBG Cos and Gallaudet University. [UT]
