Massive Redevelopment Proposed for Sursum Corda

Placeholder

Winn Development and the Sursum Corda cooperative have filed plans for a large redevelopment of the low-income co-op near DC’s NoMa neighborhood. The plans call for a total demolition of Sursum Corda and the construction of 1.28M SF of residential with an additional 41k SF in retail. Construction would be completed in two or three phases and bring more than 1,100 residential units spread over five buildings to the area. Sursum Corda opened in 1968 and suffered through a decline in the ‘80s and ‘90s as it was plagued by drug-related violence. [GGW] [WBJ]
