Six Teams Submit Proposals For Shaw’s Parcel 42
The District has solicited proposals for one of Shaw’s central parcels through a process known as Our RFP, and six teams have submitted proposals.
This is the fourth time the city has solicited proposals for the parcel, which is just across from the Shaw Library at 7th and R Street NW. The new process allowed residents and the local ANC to detail priorities for the site, with the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development noting a preference for plenty of affordable housing, Urban Turf reports.
Among the proposals under consideration is a mixed-use project from Fortis, which has proposed an eight-story mixed-use with 200 micro-units and 7,500k SF of ground-level retail. A proposal from Ditto Residential, Group 360 Real Estate Advisors and Irving Development has plans for a seven-story building with 90 family-sized units and 8k SF of retail.
Whichever form Parcel 42 ends up taking, we can expect plenty of interest in the residential units. Shaw has been one of the hottest real estate markets for young professionals, who have continued to snap up condos and rentals in the area, including those at the award-winning City Market at O. [UT]
