Zell, Hines Will Join Forces For 34-Story Alexandria Apartment Tower
JM Zell Partners and Hines are teaming up to jointly develop what will become one of the region’s tallest residential buildings upon completion.
The partners have plans to develop a 34-story apartment building just south of Eisenhower Avenue in Alexandria. The building will be the first within the long-planned, six-acre Carlyle Plaza Two, the Washington Business Journal reports.
The building was designed by Miami-based Arquitectonica, and features a unique cantilever design with three rectangular blocks of similar height. Plans call for 382 units ranging in size from studios to two-bedrooms, an amenity terrace with a pool on the fifth floor, and two large outdoor terraces on the 16th and 26th floors.
Zell and Hines hope to break ground on the project by the end of 2016. As planned, the building will reach a height of 354 feet, which would place it in the Top 5 of tallest residential buildings in the region—for now. [WBJ]
