A Decade Of Transformation In Crystal City

Placeholder

Earlier this week, the Crystal City Business Improvement District (BID) marked its 10-year anniversary surrounded by stakeholders, partners, neighbors, elected officials and friends. The BID leadership team, including VP of administration/finance Charles Gray, COO Robert Mandle, President/CEO Angela Fox and VP of programs Joe Petty is pictured above.

Launched in 2006 to counter the effects of 2005 Base Realignment and Closure legislation, the Crystal City BID has dramatically transformed the perceptions, experiences and realities of the area. It sponsors hundreds of events every year, including 5Ks every Friday in April, wine tasting throughout September, art shows, world-class theater and weekly farmers markets.

Crystal City has also become a district for innovation, with a connected ecosystem of tech incubators and startups, a 21k SF makerspace, and weekly programs that foster innovation. These events attract hundreds of thousands of visitors and residents each year.

Thousands of new residential units, Class-A office construction, a Whole Foods, a climbing gym, and enhanced retail and entertainment options are just a few of Crystal City’s new and exciting offerings. Expect to hear more as the momentum continues to bring positive change to Arlington’s largest downtown.

Perhaps the biggest takeaway from the evening’s celebration is that Crystal City is not just a commercial district. It is also a thriving neighborhood and community. Learn more here.
