Earth Treks And Its 35k SF Climbing Wall Adds To Innovative Scene In Crystal City
With nearly two months of operation under its “harness,” Earth Treks Crystal City has already found its foothold in the neighborhood’s growing ecosystem of innovation. Earth Treks, the premier climbing and fitness center dedicated to building the climbing community, opened in July.
Located at 1235 South Clark St in Crystal City, the 45k SF center is packed with 400 climbing and bouldering routes, a full-service gym, yoga and group fitness services, high-end locker rooms and a climbing gear shop. High-ceilinged tennis and racquetball courts were demolished to accommodate the 35k SF wall.
The new location is only a few blocks from the Crystal City Metro station, the Metroway transit line and regional bike trails, making it the only walkable, bikeable, and public transit-accessible climbing facility in the region.
Guests can visit by purchasing day passes or monthly memberships, and families can make use of family packages, youth programs, summer camps and birthday parties.
Apart from creating a new destination attraction for the neighborhood, Earth Treks joins a vibrant and growing hub for innovative concepts in Crystal City, which includes 1776, TechShop, Eastern Foundry, and WeWork along with its residential concept, WeLive.
Earth Treks taps into Crystal City’s health and fitness culture, complementing the Crystal City BID’s array of running and bicycle races and fitting right in among retailers like sweetgreen and Whole Foods.
