How a Fairfax Parking Lot Reinvigorated a Park

Fairfax's Kitty Pozer Garden was a park stuck between two parking lots. A good portion of one lot, a 25-space city-owned gravel parking lot became part of the new and improved park, named Old Town Square. The recently opened new park has a splash pad fountain with a waterfall, new seating surrounding it and a new clock, Greater Greater Washington reports. It's bordered by both historic buildings and new development, and soon enough, it will host public performances and community events. Since small enclaves like the City of Fairfax don't have room to expand, the only option is to become denser. As that happens, parks like Old Town Square provide much-needed greenery. [GGW]
